About the Artists

• Viktor Krauss was born in Champaign, IL, in 1969. In high school, Krauss explored the worlds of rock, soul, and R&B and began to write material that shared these new influences, eventually leading to the study of bass, voice, composition/theory with an emphasis in electronic and tape music at the University of Illinois.

Touring has taken Krauss around the world. Some venues and television appearances include Carneige Hall, Lincoln Center, The Kennedy Center, Late Night with David Letterman, The Tonight Show, Conan O’Brian, and the Ryman Auditorium. In 1994 he began his extended tenure with respected singer-songwriter Lyle Lovett, touring and recording with the eclectic folk/country icon.

• Maeve Gilchrist was born and raised in Edinburgh, Scotland, and currently based in Brooklyn, New York, Maeve‘s innovative approach to her instrument stretches its harmonic limits and improvisational possibilities. She is as at home as a soloist with an internationally renowned orchestra as she is playing with a traditional Irish folk group or using electronic augmentation in a more contemporary, improvisatory setting.

Maeve has released five albums to date, including her most recent recording Vignette, on Adventure Records, with Nashville legend Viktor Krauss while on her own label her solo Ostinato Project is a beguiling exploration of the possibilities of her instrument.
