5th Annual Ears & Beers Sweet Corn Festival – Saturday, August 1st

Sweet Corn, Bratwurst, and Brew, Illinois style. This will be a fun outing for every family member plus your friends and neighbors. The event will be held again at San Dieguito County Park in Solana Beach just off Interstate 5.

This is an all-you-can-eat-&-drink event for adults and children of all ages.

  • The menu will also be the same:
  • The BEST organic sweet corn you have ever tasted
  • Bratwurst, hot dogs, and chicken sausages, plus all the condiments and trimmings
  • Potato salad, baked beans, chips, salsa,
  • Soda, beer, wine, and water
  • Dessert

Plan to enjoy all the FUN plus great food!!! San Dieguito County Park is beautiful with plenty of shade, great children’s play areas, nice restrooms, hiking trails, etc. etc. Plus we will have special guests that will THRILL you!

Volunteers will prep the corn the day before, and store it in water. On Saturday we will get the charcoal grills going early, and roast the corn in the wet husks. It will be kept warm, and then husked and served by volunteers with plenty of melted butter. This is a proven method used by other Illini Clubs for 25 years, and by us the last four years. We are now experienced and will be more than ready for a large, enthusiastic Illini crowd.

This will be a picnic where you won’t have to prepare a thing. Club officers will DO IT ALL! Profits will go to support the Club’s Scholarship Fund to assist currently enrolled University of Illinois students from San Diego County. Bring your friends, neighbors, relatives and anyone who likes to have a good time and enjoy a great picnic. Order your tickets now and check back often to get additional information.

We have reserved Area #3 at San Dieguito Park. The picnic will be from Noon to 5:00. Food will be served from Noon to 4:30. We are inviting some special guests, planning games, and will periodically update the website with additional information.

Off the I-5 take Lomas Santa Fe east one mile, and turn left at the first stop sign. The entrance to San Dieguito Park is on the right in about 100 yards. There will be a ranger at the gate, he will be charging $3.00 per car, and can direct you the short distance to Area #3. Just past the park entrance is a dirt area along the road where you can park for carpooling, or walk into the park.
