Things we love about Illinois: Boneyard Creek

One of our favorite things about our favorite institution of higher education.

Boneyard Creek

Once it flooded Campustown in such wanton exuberance that students would canoe along Green Street as water washed through bars, storefronts and classroom buildings. Now—thanks to a $22 million detention project begun by the city of Champaign and the University in 2008—the Boneyard wends somewhat more docilely and far more beautifully around and through campus, including a lovely landscaped stretch along the Bardeen Quad.
