Debut author, Travis Leonard, publishes “The Carolina Gold Highway”

Born and raised in the plains of Mahomet, Illinois, Travis Leonard, ’08 LAS, MS ’10 LAS, has released his premiere novel The Carolina Gold Highway. The story centers around an isolated slave plantation where slavery has been practiced since the Civil War. An average American college student, Avery Pine, is dumped by his girlfriend and sulks to a Blues bar. Waking up to find himself in a swamp, he realizes that he has been captured by one of the slave drivers and is forced into slavery.
