38 things we love about Illinois: No. 26
26. Dancing with the Star, Miss V
Aurora Villacorta, better known as Miss V, has taught generations of University of Illinois students that it truly takes two to tango—part of an instructional repertoire that includes etiquette, manners and ballroom moves. Those very moves once earned students credits in physical education, but these days Miss V confines her activities to the YWCA, where she continues to teach. She is fondly remembered by many, including romance novelist Julie Klassen, who says classes with Villacorta inspired her to write The Dancing Master.
